Macsa ID laser equipment is used to encode and mark products of a wide variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, plastics (PET, PVC, HDPE), glass, metals and wood. The messages and graphics that are achieved are high quality, at minimal operating costs and at high speeds.
Application News regularly provides a sample of products that are encoded and labelled with Macsa ID lasers, every day and worldwide.
Nowadays, we are all conscious of avoiding environmental harm and being more environmentally friendly, by manufacturing, buying and opting for packaging and products that reduce our carbon footprints. Macsa id laser equipment contributes to sustainable manufacturing processes as it does not generate waste or use disposable cartridges.
In this application, a laser marking was made with Macsa ID’s SPA SP30 HPD applied to painted cardboard. These boxes are easy to mark as the paint layer can be removed relatively easily. Depending on the surface paint layer or the substrate, the visibility of the marking obtained is very high. We achieve good results in terms of line definition and contrast depending on the background color.

Regarding the colors, the lighter colors require slightly less power to avoid a burnt appearance, but a power of 50% has been determined for marking all cardboard boxes, thus being able to mark any color with a single device and not having to stop the production line to code them. All marking has been done at high speed, in less than 0.2 seconds.
The typeface chosen for this Application News is a fine stroke font, and without the need for filler, it has a solid appearance due to the union of the strokes. The initial character spacing is 0.5 mm, taking into account the 5 and 10-character marking code.
